To set up your Orbi router with an existing router, follow these steps:
- Connect your Orbi router to your existing router with an Ethernet cable.
- Connect your computer to the Orbi router with another Ethernet cable.
- Open a web browser and go to orbilogin.com or http://192.168.1.1.
- Enter the default login credentials (username: admin, password: password) to access the Orbi web interface.
- Click on the “Advanced” tab and select “LAN” from the left-side menu.
- Change the IP address of the Orbi router to a different subnet than your existing router (e.g. change from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1).
- Save your changes and logout.
- Disconnect the Ethernet cable from your computer and connect it to a LAN port on your existing router.
- Log into your existing router’s web interface.
- Locate and enable the “DHCP Server” option.
- Save your changes and logout.
- Turn off the existing router and turn it back on.
- Turn off the Orbi router and turn it back on.
- Wait for 2 minutes for the Orbi router to sync with your existing router.
Your Orbi router is now set up as a satellite in your existing network. You can now connect your other devices to the Orbi network and enjoy fast, reliable Wi-Fi throughout your home.
